What I did

I designed, programmed and even did all the art for this game. I've always wanted to play a fighter where both players are clashing swords, I always felt that any fighter game with swords didn't emphasize the clashing enough. So I came up with the clash system, a whole new system that adds a lot of depth to the combat. I also charted out each characters frame data, and compared them in several simulations so I could clearly see which characters had advantages over others and balanced accordingingly

The Clash System

The Clash System is what makes this game stand out from other fighting games. In most fighting games, a clash will occur when two character's hotboxes collide with each other on the same frame; then both characters will go in to a neutral position. I wanted clashes to happen more often so I added clashboxes to the game. Clashboxes always come out before a hitbox. Unlike a hitbox, a clash box won't deal damage, but if it collides with another clashbox or a hitbox, both players will result in a clash. When a clash does occur in this game, both characters are able to attack almost right away, they don't have to wait for their recover frames to finish their attack. However each attack has a bit of clashstun frames, so players will have to be smart about which attacks they use if they're anticipating a clash.
